Welcome to the
Cast Resource Page
If you received a link to this website, you just might well be "pushing 50." That is, you are going to be age 50 in a matter of years, a matter of months or you just "crossed over" into your 50s in the past few years. If you're like me, the thought of this age transition is/was somewhat horrifying. Perhaps, for you, it was exhilarating or you are looking forward to it! I mean, some of us are really just getting started in this thing called life, after decades of struggle and strife to find ourselves, and perhaps our purpose in this complex tapestry of modern life, we are facing this milestone. Together.
Life is very different now for 40- and 50-somethings, but no one seems to be capturing communicating what we are going through. Most of the content we find online is aimed at the 20- and 30-something demographic. Video content relevant to our age cohort is usually created to scoff at the obvious challenges of the generation gap as it relates to music and technology, etc. I get it, no one uses rotary phones anymore - but there is so much more to "us" than that! This project will provide a voice, as well as a means to share our perspectives and our fears about pushing 50, about aging in modern day and about being awkwardly sandwiched between boomers and millennials. This website will be our interface as we move through the creation of this documentary in the age of video blogging & self taping. After the video collection process, this site will become the main depository for the video products that will emerge through this project. Here you will find a video overview of the project, filming instructions and a talent release form that can be signed electronically. Know someone else who would be great for this? Send them the link to this URL! It may be your spouse, your partner, your friend - someone who you think would dig this project. I am working through my social network and would love to get enough people so that I do not have to put casting notices out . . . so by all means, feel free to pass on to a select few (i.e., please do not post this url publicly). |
About the Project (The Why)
|
DISCLAIMER: This project is not about occupational titles, educational attainment or career accomplishments. Instead, this project gets to the very core of being a person without reliance on all the labels that make up our identity, roles that we play and identities that we have. |

Continue on!
(You have until November 30th to submit)
Not your thing? No worries at all, just close your browser and walk away.
Filming (The How)
The videos you will create should last somewhere between 30 and 60 seconds. That is certainly not a lot of time, therefore, you will need to get right to your most critical point(s). You may choose to film all the questions in one sitting instead of over the period of time specified below, so if you do, make sure each question is saved as a separate video file. You may feel that you do not wish to a respond to a particular question, and that's completely okay - just respond to those that resonate with you - and it just might possibly be all of them!
Below are a few, simple guidelines for shooting your video with the highest production quality:
|
Naming & Submitting Your Video Files
There are 8 video prompts (in the gray section below). If you can, please name your files in the following way (this will create a greater efficiency in the aggregation and editing of these files).
I can work with .mov or .mp4 files. Here are some example file names: pushing50-stone1.mp4 pushing50-jones2.mov pushing50-johnson5.mp4 ** EMAIL your files to [email protected] and use the subject line: pushing50. I will create an inbox filter that will efficiently send your emails right into one folder for ease of organization and downloads. |
Timeline
I would like to have all of your videos submitted on or before November 30, 2018 so the editing process can begin.
|
Production Forms
To ease the burden (on both ends) of collecting information and forms, I have created this Google Form that you can complete and provide an electronic signature on the talent release.

Video Prompts & Sample Videos
If you choose to respond to a prompt, by all means, skip it - but just don’t skip the first one! I have included some sample phrasing for you in blue next to a few of the prompts. You can also download the PDF version of these prompts here.

Thank You.
The idea for this project has been marinating in my mind for a long time. I thought about the resources I had, the time I could devote, and all the other factors that could stop an idea in its tracks - and this collaborative production model came to the light, and I jumped at the opportunity to fully develop it, put it out there and see what happens!
